The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four in 2016. In the midst of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish tracks which made it into the top 100. And in 2020 the number was 41. Some reggaeton artists expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. But a new band, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and others into his music.
